Today, July 18, marks the professional holiday of the employees of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA). Established on this day in 1998 by Order No. 854 from the esteemed leader Heydar Aliyev, the agency has played a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of Azerbaijani territory.
As reported by Ednews, the Mine Action Agency was reformed into a public legal entity under Decree No. 1251, signed by President Ilham Aliyev on January 15, 2021. This reorganization aimed to enhance the agency's effectiveness in its mission.
Since the end of the Patriotic War, in which the Azerbaijani Army achieved a decisive victory, ANAMA has been at the forefront of clearing liberated areas from mines, unexploded ordnance, and other explosive devices. The agency’s extensive work includes waste removal, temporary storage, transportation, and neutralization of these hazardous materials, except for chemical weapons.
Today’s observance highlights the agency’s ongoing dedication to safeguarding the nation’s territories and ensuring the safety of its citizens!
