Kazakhstan interested in purchasing Bayraktar drones from Turkey

Kazakhstan is considering purchasing Bayraktar Tactical Block 2 (TB2) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Turkey, according to Russian news site Avia.pro.

Sources told RIA Novosti that Nursultan is seriously interested in the TB2 following reports of its success on the battlefield in Syria and Nagorno-Karabakh. It is unclear how many the Kazakh military would be interested in purchasing. Currently Kazakhstan's drone fleet consists of Chinese made drones.

Last week, a military delegation from Kazakhstan visited Turkey's Unmanned Aircraft Systems Base Command for several days to view the UAVs. This base located in Batman is home to Turkey's army and air force drone units.

The TB2 has been exported abroad to several nations, including former Soviet states Azerbaijan and Ukraine. On Thursday, Ukraine announced plans to purchase 5 more Bayraktar drones.
