Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi plans to pay an official visit to Türkiye on July 27, Ednews informs referring to the Turkish edition of the Independent newspaper.
At a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Egyptian leader will discuss bilateral and regional issues.
The Egyptian president’s visit to Türkiye will take place against the backdrop of the full restoration of diplomatic relations announced by Ankara and Cairo on July 4.
Relations between Ankara and Cairo deteriorated in 2013 after the ouster of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi. Following this, both countries withdrew their ambassadors. In March 2021, then Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced the resumption of contacts with Egypt at the diplomatic level.
The possibility of a meeting between the presidents of Türkiye and Egypt was reported after Erdogan’s victory in the presidential elections in May.
