The re-election of the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, whose term ends in November 2024, may be in doubt due to the growing popularity of right-wing parties, Ednews informs referring to Politico.
The newspaper reminds that in 2019, von der Leyen’s candidacy was supported by a coalition of pro-European EU parties - the conservative European People’s Party, socialists and liberals.
“With the far right surging across Europe, von der Leyen could struggle to repeat that win,” the newspaper wrote.
