Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov dismissed the notion that the Ukraine situation would have unfolded differently if former United States Donald Trump had remained in office.
In an interview with CBS, Lavrov said the Russian-American relations were already strained to the point that a US president would not be able to impact Moscow's decisions. He further attributed the strain to the era of former President George W. Bush, contending that the degradation began with Bush's withdrawal from the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty (ABM Treaty).
The remarks come after Trump claimed he would be able to stop Russia from invading Ukraine if he had remained in office.
