Seismologists have recorded two consecutive earthquakes in Almaty on the night of January 25 with magnitudes of 5.1 and 5.9, respectively, according to the press service of the Department of Emergency Situations of the Almaty Region of Kazakhstan, Ednews informs.
The epicenter of the first quake was located 258 km southeast of Almaty in China, the second was 273 km southeast of Almaty, also in China.
The source of the first earthquake was at a depth of 10 km, the second was 5 km.
The previous earthquake in Kazakhstan was registered on the evening of January 22. Its magnitude was 6.7, the epicenter was on the border of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
