The United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office on Monday announced new sanctions targeting "extremist" Israeli settlers over violent attacks against the Palestinian civilians in the West Bank over the past year.
The sanctions will include financial and travel restrictions to solve "continued settler violence" that threatens West Bank stability. Namely, the individuals in question are believed to have harassed and pressured Palestinian communities to leave their land. The four sanctioned Israelis will also face an asset freeze by the British government.
"Extremist Israeli settlers are threatening Palestinians, often at gunpoint, and forcing them off land that is rightfully theirs. This behavior is illegal and unacceptable. Israel must also take stronger action and put a stop to settler violence," British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said.
