The European Commission intends to put into effect a directive on a phased ban on supplies of Russian liquefied natural gas to the EU in April, European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson told reporters upon arrival at a meeting of the EU Council at the level of energy ministers, Ednews informs referring to TASS.
It is expected that the European Parliament will hold a final vote on this directive at the plenary session in Strasbourg in April and this will allow EU countries to take action against Russian LNG without resorting to sanctions, Simson said.
