Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy Commander Alireza Tangsiri said on Tuesday that Iran could "close the Strait of Hormuz" if it wanted due to the "threat" from Israel's presence in the United Arab Emirates but that it is choosing not to do so. "We are now responsible for the security of this region and the security of the Strait of Hormuz, and traffic in it continues," he said.
Tangsiri called for a coalition of Islamic armies, claiming it is the "only way to fight" Israel. He warned Hezbollah is growing stronger and that "resistance movements" around Israel's borders are growing. He also repeated that Iran will "deliver a strong blow" to Israel "at the appropriate time" following the strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria.
