The River Seine is deemed unsuitable for swimming less than a month before the opening ceremony of the event on July 26, reported AFP on Friday.
According to the water charity Surfrider Foundation Europe, they have conducted multiple tests on the water, revealing a significant presence of bacteria. French President Emmanuel Macron and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo have both asserted that the Seine River, which is set to host an open swim event during the Paris Olympics, is safe enough for swimming.
To address this issue, the French government has already invested approximately $1.5 billion in efforts to clean up the river to make it suitable for swimming.
