A Polish man accused of punching Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (center) testified in a Copenhagen court on Tuesday that he has no memory of the incident due to alcohol influence, AFP reported.
The unnamed 39-year-old suspect, facing potential imprisonment and deportation, was arrested immediately after the alleged assault on June 7. According to the media, he said that he only remembers meeting the prime minister before experiencing memory lapses. Prosecutor Line Steffensen revealed that the suspect has previous shoplifting arrests since moving to Denmark five years ago.
"I'm standing face to face with Mrs. Prime Minister, (then) I can't remember anything else until I am arrested," he said.
