A new case of monkeypox has been detected in the Philippines, bringing the total caseload to 10, the country's Department of Health (DOH) said Monday, Ednews reports citing Xinhua.
The DOH said the newly recorded case, the first this year, was reported to the department on Sunday.
"The case is a 33-year-old male Filipino national with no travel history outside the Philippines but with close, intimate contact three weeks before symptom onset," the DOH said in a statement.
The country's last recorded case was in December 2023. All previous cases were isolated, cared for and have since recovered, the department said.
