TotalEnergies posted a net profit of 21.4 billion dollars (19.8 billion euros) in 2023, a new record after its historic result in 2022, Ednews reports referring to LeMonde.
Despite a difficult environment for oil and gas prices, the world's fourth-largest energy company has improved its net profit by 4% compared with 2022, thanks to "growth in hydrocarbons, in particular liquefied natural gas and electricity", announced its Chairman and CEO, Patrick Pouyanné, in the company's results press release on Wednesday 7 February.
However, these results fell short of analysts' forecasts, who were expecting net profits of between €21 billion and €22 billion. Adjusted profit, the benchmark indicator for investors, fell by 36% to 23.2 billion dollars, compared with 2022, due to the withdrawal from its Russian activities.
