Azerbaijan's role in Europe's green energy transformation is becoming increasingly important, German Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ralf Horlemann said at a meeting of the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan), according to EDnews.
According to Azerbaijan's energy plans, the country plans to build eight industrial solar and wind power plants with a total installed capacity of about 2 GW by 2027. The volume of investments in these projects is estimated at $2.8 billion, which will be attracted from both foreign and domestic sources.
The implementation of the projects will allow for the annual generation of about 5.3 billion kWh of green energy, increase the share of renewable sources in the energy system to 32.6%, save 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas per year and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2.5 million tons.
