Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot held a phone conversation to discuss the implementation of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) and review the latest regional and international developments, according to Iranian state media.
Iran's state broadcaster IRIB said the ministers exchanged views on efforts related to the US-Iran MoU, describing it as part of attempts to end what Tehran calls the war imposed by the United States and Israel against Iran.
The talks came after Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi criticized remarks by French President Emmanuel Macron, who said France was working with Oman on demining the Strait of Hormuz.
Gharibabadi rejected the proposal, saying demining operations in the strategic waterway fall exclusively under Iran's responsibility and that Tehran "fundamentally does not permit such a thing."
