An Azerbaijani delegation led by Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova participated in the farewell ceremony for Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, held in Tehran.
The delegation included Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov, Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov, Prime Minister of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Jabbar Musayev, and other senior officials.
Upon arrival at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, the delegation was received by Iranian Parliament Deputy Speaker Ali Nikzad and Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Iran, Ali Alizada.
The farewell ceremony took place at the Mosalla complex, where Gafarova also met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and other senior Iranian officials.
During the meetings, Gafarova conveyed condolences on behalf of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev over the death of Ali Khamenei and expressed sympathy and solidarity with the people of Iran.
