Slovak President Peter Pellegrini will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan on July 13 at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev, the Slovak president's office announced.
The visit follows the first-ever official visit by an Azerbaijani president to Slovakia, which took place in December last year.
Pellegrini will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák, Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Denisa Saková, Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok, and National Bank of Slovakia Governor Peter Kažimír.
During talks with Azerbaijani officials, including President Ilham Aliyev, the parties are expected to discuss expanding cooperation in the energy sector, supporting Slovak exports, strengthening industrial and technological ties, improving transport connectivity, and involving Slovak partners in reconstruction and development projects in the liberated territories.
As part of the visit, Pellegrini will travel to Azerbaijan's Aghdam district to visit the smart village project in the village of Bash Garvand and attend the groundbreaking ceremony for a new school named after Milan Rastislav Štefánik.
The Slovak president will also meet Prime Minister Ali Asadov and Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. His programme includes visits to the Alley of Martyrs, the grave of Azerbaijan's National Leader Heydar Aliyev, and a meeting with Apostolic Prefect of Azerbaijan Monsignor Vladimir Fekete, who is of Slovak origin.
A Slovak-Azerbaijani Business Forum will also be held in Baku, bringing together business representatives from both countries to promote trade, establish new partnerships, and expand the presence of Slovak companies in the Azerbaijani market.
According to the Slovak president's office, the continued high-level political dialogue between Bratislava and Baku reflects both countries' commitment to deepening cooperation in strategic areas, including energy security, the economy, innovation, transport, and technology.
