Azerbaijan has significantly strengthened its position in international affairs through an active foreign policy, successful economic diplomacy, and growing strategic importance in global connectivity projects, according to American political analyst and international affairs expert Peter Tase.
American political analyst and international relations expert Peter Tase has given an interview to EDnews.
During the interview, he discussed Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, stating that the country has significantly strengthened its position in international relations through its active diplomacy, successful economic diplomacy, and growing strategic importance in global connectivity projects.
According to Tase, Azerbaijan has earned a respected position on the international political stage. This is particularly evident in the country’s expanding diplomatic relations with the nations of Latin America.
“Azerbaijan’s diplomatic missions, including its embassies in Buenos Aires and Washington, have demonstrated dynamic performance and achieved significant results in the field of economic diplomacy.”
Tase noted that Azerbaijan’s achievements in foreign policy are attracting increasing international attention. According to him, international organizations are closely monitoring the country’s diplomatic successes.
“The Republic of Azerbaijan is one of the few countries capable of successfully integrating its economic interests, political priorities, and national security objectives into a single, coherent foreign policy strategy,” the expert emphasized.
Speaking about Azerbaijan’s regional significance, Tase highlighted the country’s unique geopolitical position and its role in connecting different regions of the world.
He particularly underscored major transportation and connectivity initiatives such as the Middle Corridor and the Zangezur Corridor, describing them as projects of long-term strategic importance for Eurasia.
“Azerbaijan’s ability to combine its economic interests, national security priorities, and the protection of its territorial sovereignty represents an important example of modern statecraft,” Tase said.
The expert also highly praised the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. According to him, Azerbaijan has chosen a path that promotes economic growth, technological advancement, and regional connectivity.
“Azerbaijan has become an essential geographical partner for Central Asian countries seeking to expand their economic ties with Europe. Its strategic location gives it a unique role that very few states possess,” he added.
Tase also referred to Azerbaijan’s successful hosting of major international events, including COP29 and the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
He stated that these events demonstrate Azerbaijan’s growing diplomatic capacity and its rising international standing.
“Baku was the ideal city to host the World Urban Forum. The city showcases an impressive combination of modern urban planning, architectural diversity, and well-organized public spaces,” he noted.
Tase said that during his most recent visit to Azerbaijan, after an absence of several years, he witnessed remarkable progress in the city’s development.
“I observed notable achievements in urban infrastructure, green spaces, and municipal governance. Azerbaijan has set an important example of what modern urban development can look like.”
He stressed that the successful organization of global forums such as COP29 and WUF13 demonstrates Azerbaijan’s ability to host large-scale international events and further strengthens the country’s position within the international community.
Concluding the interview, Tase stated that both developing and developed countries are paying increasing attention to Azerbaijan’s development model and diplomatic achievements.
“Countries across the Global South, Western Europe, and the Americas are closely studying Azerbaijan’s success story and its growing role in international relations.”
At the end of the interview, Tase expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the support provided in organizing his recent visit to Baku, as well as to Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Chile, Ramzi Teymurov.
“Every time I come to Baku, I feel at home,” Tase concluded.
