As EDnews reported, Heidi Thomas Kuhn, the head of the "Roots of Peace" NGO, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, has been named the "World Food Prize".

EDnews reports that IEPF President Umud Mirzayev, Chairman of the Management Board of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov, MPs, representatives of a several international organizations, heads of institutes, embassy representatives and other guests took part in the banquet.

During the event, Umud Mirzayev, the president of the International Eurasia Press Fund, congratulated Heidi Kuhn on being awarded the prize:

"I am very happy with the partnership with IEPF, where I am the head of "Roots of Peace" NGO. Mrs. Heidi is doing great work to draw attention to the world the landmine problem of Azerbaijan.I appreciate what she has done. I am happy that she won the award."

Heidi Kuhn expressed her satisfaction with the evening full of sincerity. She also spoke about the "Roots of Peace" NGO, its mission, goals and fight against cancer. She said that she felt bad because of seeing people who were victims of landmines, and also talked about her work related to this.

MP Ganira Pashayeva, in her turn, congratulated Mrs. Heidi:

"I heartily congratulate you on receiving the award. "Women are always from the peace side."

G. Pashayeva noted that they talked about the reception of Mrs. Heidi in the Milli Majlis and the Karabakh problems with her:

"Mrs. Heidi is passionate about the current problems in the world. She is familiar with solving problems. I am very happy to meet you. I congratulate Umud Mirzayev, as well. I thank both Heidi Kuhn and Mr. Umud Mirzayev for doing justice."

Vugar Suleymanov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) , said in his speech that Heidi Kuhn has helped and continues to help convey the landmine problem of Azerbaijan to the world. He appreciated the work done by Mrs. Heidi.

Honored Art Worker Fakhriyya Khalafova talked about landmine terrorism in the liberated territories.

"International level experts are needed to solve the mine problem. International experience is needed for its solution. I thank Mrs. Heidi for being with Azerbaijan in this case, helping our country, and managing to convey the landmine problem to the world."
