On February 3, the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) convened its next round of regional meetings with observers in the cities of Horadiz and Beylagan, marking a crucial step on the eve of the upcoming extraordinary presidential elections.
According to Ednews, the meeting addressed various aspects of the election process, including discussions on candidate posters, propaganda efforts, and the general pre-election atmosphere among the population.
Election technologist Ruslan Ibrahimbeyli played a significant role during the meeting, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming elections for Azerbaijan and elucidating the rights and duties of the assembled observers.
A notable focus of the meeting was IEPF's commitment to adhere to the rules established by the Central Election Commission, as outlined by Ibrahimbeyli:
41.1.1: The election process should not be influenced for the sake of the interests of a candidate or a political party.
41.1.2: All circumstances and facts relevant to the observed actions must be taken into account.
41.1.3: Observation should be conducted openly.
41.1.4: Conclusions drawn from the observation should be firmly based on facts.
IEPF expressed its dedication to undertaking monitoring missions across 31 districts, encompassing 21 different cities (districts). The regions include major urban centers such as Khankendi, Shusha, Aghdam, Fuzuli, Zangilan, Jabrayil, Tartar, Barda, Goranboy, Naftalan, Ganja, Samukh, Beylagan, Kurdemir, Hajigabul, Khirdalan, and Sumgait, in addition to the capital, Baku.
Noteworthy is IEPF's historical involvement in the creation of election coalitions in 2008 and 2013, showcasing its active role in elections over the years. The organization's continued commitment to election monitoring underscores its dedication to fostering a fair and transparent democratic process in Azerbaijan.
