In the wake of the extraordinary presidential elections held in Azerbaijan on February 7, the International Eurasian Press Fund (IEPF) is set to unveil its findings at a press conference on February 8 at 16:30, according to the organization's president, Umud Mirzayev.
Mirzayev expressed satisfaction with the election process, highlighting the professionalism of the IEPF's observation team deployed across key regions, including Baku, Tartar, Beylagan, and Fuzuli. In a statement to Ednews, he outlined the diligent efforts of the observation team, emphasizing their role in monitoring the opening and closing of polling stations.
"The observers were professionals who took part in pre-election trainings and mastered their rights and duties. Before the election, a network was created for convenient communication of observers," stated Mirzayev. He further explained that the team actively transmitted information from the polling stations they observed, ensuring regular discussions on election-related matters.
Mirzayev reported that, based on the observations, no significant violations of the law that could impact the election results were recorded. He commended the transparency and objectivity of the electoral process and highlighted the increased voter turnout compared to previous elections.
"From the first minutes, a crowd was observed in each of the 25 precincts we participated in the opening and observed. This crowd started in the morning and continued for at least 2-2.5 hours. Even in some polling stations, the density of voters continued for more than 5-6 hours," noted Mirzayev. He mentioned that in certain precincts, voter turnout reached 85-90%, particularly in areas housing internally displaced people and territories recently liberated from occupation.
The IEPF president concluded the statement by inviting the public to the organization's headquarters on February 8 for the press conference, where the full report on the extraordinary presidential elections would be presented. The conference is expected to provide comprehensive insights into the electoral process and outcomes.
