The weakening of the world economy has led to the revival of a new vaccine market. COVID vaccines, such as Moderna, BioNTech and Pfizer, which have begun to dazzle with their incredible revenues, have reached the point of cosmic prices with their monopoly policy. Interestingly, the mentioned vaccine firms are almost tax-exempt, although they have a profit margin of more than 69%.
In addition, three corporations backed by $ 100 billion in public funding from taxpayers in the United States, Germany and other countries earned more than $ 26 billion in the first half of the year alone, thanks to a patent monopoly on successful coronavirus vaccines.
Peoples' Alliance of Vaccine ...
The Peoples' Alliance of Vaccine, a European organisation, said the three corporations have sold vaccines to countries for $ 41 billion more than their production value, in an effort to make a fortune. As for the reason, it is said that these vaccines are the only ones that have a stronger effect in the medical world. Many organisations that prefer to approach issues with reality in Europe, today call it the lust for wealth of investors and corporate leaders, who own billions of dollars in public investment and demand exorbitant prices for low-tax drugs. However, when approached from a global public health perspective, the reality begins to emerge.
It should be noted that there are problems with types of vaccines in Azerbaijan and other countries in the region.
Speaking to Ednews, TABIB spokeswoman Elnara Bakhishova took a slightly different approach. She noted that the Pfizer and other vaccines are also used in the country.
"First of all, the main goal of the vaccination strategy is to minimise the risk of pandemic as well as to prevent severe disease and death in sick people. In other words, the main priority is to protect people's health. On the other hand, all vaccines used in the country have been recognised and approved for use by the World Health Organisation.
Elnara Bakhishova also touched upon the availability of the Pfizer vaccine, which is in demand abroad, especially in Western countries.
"Currently, all types of vaccines in our country are free and quite affordable. Moreover, the Pfizer vaccine is available in the regions, and anyone can get this vaccine free of charge," Bakhishova added.
Why Pfizer preferred in Europe..?
However, there is a dark side to this issue. According to the rules, people who want to travel to European countries are required to get at least the Pfizer vaccine. If a person who is vaccinated with typically Sinovac in Baku or Sputnik in Moscow wants to fly to Germany, he or she must present a Pfizer vaccination passport in order to enter the country. This is a waste of both time and money for each person.
On the other hand, if the World Health Organisation has approved all vaccines, then why do countries discriminate between vaccines? Is there an institution or organisation that monitors or takes action on this issue? Or are the vaccines just to serve the pockets of a few "drug magnates"?
Apparently, these questions are doomed to remain unanswered for a long time.
In conclusion, it is significant to mention an interesting statement by Dinah Fuentesfina, Campaign Manager at ActionAid International, a UK-based non-governmental organisation.
"While more than 200 million people were infected and more than 4.5 million lost their lives during the pandemic, at least nine new billionaires around the world thanked Covid.
This is really a virus of inequality. We create vaccination billionaires, but we can't vaccinate billions of people in need. If the state budget spends a lot of money on the development of these vaccines and takes into account the health needs of the world's population, such life-saving vaccines should become a common property of the people.
