Western countries closely follow the situation in Russia, heads of state and government of Western countries, and heads of foreign affairs expressed their opinion on the open conflict between the "Wagner" Group and the Ministry of Defense in Russia, Ednews reports.
Polish President Andrzej Duda said on his Twitter account that he discussed the situation in Russia with the Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and allies. "Events outside our eastern border are regularly monitored," he said.
The French government also said that it is closely following the situation in Russia. According to the information released by the Elysee Palace, "President Macron is closely following the situation. We remain focused on our support for Ukraine," the Elysee Palace said in a statement.
The British government has also reacted to the situation in Russia. UK Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has warned of the risk of rebellion in Russia, updating its travel recommendations following the operation by Russian mercenary forces of the Wagner Group of Russia. "There are reports of military tension in the Rostov region and the risk of rebellion within the country," the UK Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs said.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz's administration also said it was monitoring the situation. "We are carefully following what is happening in Russia," the government spokesman said.
Finnish President Sauli Niinistö told the local media that this issue is an internal matter of Russia and the government is following the process.
The Swedish Foreign Minister made a similar statement. "The government is closely monitoring the events in Russia, the situation is serious," the head of the MFA noted.
