An unnamed Russian security official said on Saturday that Ukraine mined the Kremenchuk Hydroelectric Power Plant, RIA Novosti reported. The accusation follows an incident in June when the Nova Kakhovka dam was blown up, resulting in dozens of casualties and significant damage. Ukraine and its allies blamed Russia for the explosion, while Russia said Ukraine mined the dam.
"Information has been received about mining and the possible explosion of the Kremenchuk hydroelectric power station in order to create public tension and accuse the Russian army of attacking the station," the source said.
