United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres reiterated on Tuesday that the dialogue leading to the current humanitarian truce must continue and be transformed into a full ceasefire, Ednews reports via Euronews.
In a statement ahead of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Guterres called for "a long-term humanitarian ceasefire, unrestricted access for lifesaving aid, the release of all hostages, the protection of civilians and an end to violations of international humanitarian law."
In addition, he also stated that the Palestinians were suffering "one of the darkest chapters" in their history.
