The Palestinian militant group Hamas claimed on Thursday that the shooting attack in Jerusalem that took place earlier in the day was carried out by two brothers who were its members.
"As we honor our martyred fighters, we affirm that this operation came as a natural response to the unprecedented crimes of the occupation, including brutal massacres in the Gaza Strip and the killing of children in Jenin, the extensive violations against our prisoners in the occupation's prisons, and the ongoing violations in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque," Resistance News Network, which shares content published by Hamas, posted on Telegram.
The shooting in Jerusalem left three civilians dead and several injured, according to Israel's national medical emergency service, Magen David Adom.
