Azerbaijan and China have signed a series of protocols regulating the export of poultry and seafood products to the Chinese market, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral trade and creating new opportunities for Azerbaijani producers.
The agreements were signed by Goshgar Tahmazli, chairman of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency, and Sun Meijun during a working visit by an Azerbaijani delegation to China.
According to AFSA, the protocols establish inspection, quarantine, and food safety requirements for the export of poultry products, aquaculture goods, and wild aquatic bioresources. The agreements provide the legal framework necessary for exports and are expected to facilitate greater access for Azerbaijani products to the Chinese market.
During the visit, the sides also discussed expanding market access for Azerbaijani agricultural products, digitalization of trade procedures, mutual recognition of certification systems, and broader cooperation in food safety.
As part of the visit, Tahmazli held talks with Luo Wen. Discussions focused on strengthening state oversight mechanisms, implementing effective inspection systems, and advancing digital transformation in the field of food safety regulation.
The agreements are expected to boost export opportunities for Azerbaijan’s agricultural and fisheries sectors while further deepening economic cooperation between the two countries.
