The US sanctioned Chinese companies to fight illicit fentanyl

CNN is investigating whether U.S.sanctioned chemical companies in China are evading Washington's fight against illegally manufactured fentanyl. 
 
Ednews reports citing CNN that at least one Chinese company with links to a sanctioned organization has been found.
 
More than 100,000 Americans died from drug overdoses in 2021, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Two-thirds of the cases have been linked to synthetic opioids, most of them believed to be from illicitly made fentanyl.
 
The drug can be 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine, and its pharmaceutical versions can be prescribed by doctors for severe pain. But according to the CDC, illicitly manufactured fentanyl has exacerbated the opioid overdose crisis in the US over the past decade.
