Georgia and Azerbaijan, as well as other partners, are working to improve the Middle Corridor, which serves as a bridge between East and West, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili said at the summit of heads of state and government of the countries participating in the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia - SPECA - taking place in Baku, Ednews informs.
“Azerbaijan is a very important economic partner of Georgia. Trade turnover between the two countries increased by 16%,” Garibashvili noted.
He added that the project of laying an electric cable along the bottom of the Black Sea is very important for the region.
“Georgia has taken steps to invest in projects for the construction of roads and the development of air transport,” the prime minister said.
He also noted that Georgia is interested in consolidating partnership with Azerbaijan and the Central Asian region.
