If global warming is reduced to 1.5 degrees, the $800 billion invested annually in the global oil and gas sector could be halved by 2030.
Ednews informs that this was stated in the report of the International Energy Agency.
According to the report, in order to achieve this goal, new long-term projects in the oil and gas sector will not be needed, and some current projects will have to be maintained once and for all:
"Global demand for oil and gas is expected to peak by 2030. If governments meet their national energy and climate pledges, demand is expected to be 45 percent lower than today's levels by 2050."
