In recent months, the Turkish side will start work on the opening of the Zangezur corridor, and the Azerbaijani side continues its work in this direction.
In relation to this issue, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey Abdulkadir Uraloğlu recently said, "We have passed a certain stage in the implementation of this corridor, I believe that Azerbaijan, Turkey and Armenia will implement this project in the near future" - said at the Organization of Turkic States (OTT) in Istanbul. he told the media during the Multimodal Transport and Logistics Forum.
It seems that Turkey has high hopes for Zangezur Corridor to become an important logistics point connecting East and West.
As a result of the opening of the Zangezur corridor, the economic expert and Prof. Dr. Kerem Garabulut shared his thoughts on this in a private interview with Ednews:
"The opening of Zangazur Corridor has great strategic importance. Because through this road, Turkey will not only connect with Azerbaijan by land, but also open to Central Asia. Azerbaijan will open to Europe through this corridor. With the opening of the Zangezur corridor, the Kars-Igdir-Nakhchivan railway will be one of the issues that will come up on the agenda for the construction of the railway connection of Turkey. With the opening of this corridor, tourism and foreign trade between Turkey and Azerbaijan should be expected to increase 2-3 times from the current level. Irevan on this road; "If Turkey opens its borders to us, we will allow the construction of the road," he can insist. In other words, in exchange for this corridor, Armenia will probably start making serious efforts to open the border gates of Turkey. In particular, Armenia's participation in this corridor will be possible only if Armenia's attitude towards Azerbaijan changes."
The expert also emphasized in the interview that this corridor will be a new era for world political and economic processes:
"It should be noted that the opening of this corridor will not harm any state in the world, on the contrary, it will contribute to the political-economic and social stability of the region and the world. As I mentioned at the beginning, Armenia will benefit from the opening of this corridor and will begin to recover its current difficult situation. It should also be emphasized that Russia has political and economic interests here. Russian products can also be presented to the world through this corridor. In addition, China, Russia's ally, is one of the countries that is interested in the realization of this issue, and has repeatedly stated this. The Nakhchivan-Baku-Ashgabad road will provide transport even to China, so agriculture, animal husbandry, and industry will develop. With this means, the former Silk Road, which has fallen, will be replaced by the Iron Silk Road. European countries also benefit from this corridor, which makes transport to Central Asia and China easier via the Iron Silk Road. Of course, this way has political aspects. In particular, Iran is showing Armenia's side in the issue, but on the contrary, if its participation in the corridor is ensured, it will lead to the commercial activation of the railways in its territory. In short, I can say that the work on the opening of this corridor continues at full speed, and this corridor will be the beginning of a new era."
