"Today's development in Karabakh are historical. We are witnessing a start of a new era in South Caucasus."
Gia Nodia, the former Minister of Education and Science, head of the Caucasian Peace Institute and political scientist, spoke about the event on Ednews.
I understand that Azerbaijani forces took control over the province and this means that we are living in a new South Caucasus. Many things are going to change, but we don't know how exactly it's going to change. We don't know whether, how or what conditions will the ethnic armenians still live in Karabakh. Most importantly how will the relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia will develop. General complex of regional relations will be rebuilt, but as I said, we don't know exactly how. Georgia so far hasn't played any role in anything. They will wait and see the approach. I don't there is any distinct Georgian policy regards to this development. But of course everybody in Georgia know how important is this event".
