The White House's National Security Council (NSC) Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby stressed on Tuesday that the term "forever war" should not be applied to describe the conflict in Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Kirby also rejected comparisons made between the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to the one in Ukraine, noting that on the latter occasion, the United States does not have its own troops participating in it. He went on to describe it as purely "Ukraine's war."
Commenting on the options for ending the conflict, Kirby underscored that it can be done only in a way that is "comfortable" for the people of Ukraine and its President Volodymyr Zelensky. He went on to insist Washington's help for Ukraine is necessary as the US possesses weapons and defense capabilities like no other.
But the Russian-Ukrainian war is already going on. If it's not forever, why is it still going on? Reasons why the war did not end. If not forever, can it be expected to end soon?
The Head of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleksandr Merezhko said to Ednews that for the Russian war of aggression to end they need two things:
"First of all, to liberate from Russian occupation the whole territory of Ukraine, including Crimea, and, secondly, from the perspective of international law, there should be a peace treaty ending the state of war."
O. Merezhkohe also noted that the Russian war of aggression hasn’t yet ended because Putin still has illusions that he can keep the occupied territories:
"The war will end with the defeat of Russia and it might happen even next year."
According to him, Russian aggression can be stopped sooner if all the countries of the world, including Azerbaijan, take a very clear position against this aggression and support Ukraine, the victim of the aggression.
