The conflict between Israel and Palestine has flared up again. The fact that the south and center of Israel were hit by heavy rocket fire, a group of armed men entered the settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strip, killed Jewish soldiers and took hostages is a serious blow to the peace process in the Middle East. According to shared information, the Hezbollah group is also fighting against Israel in cooperation with Hamas.
How are the processes going now? Has Iran intervened in the matter?
Speaking to Ednews about the issue, Palestinian political expert Khalil Al-Asali gave several facts about why the conflict arose:
"First of all, let's bring some facts. One fact is that there is no such thing as a peace process because it was stopped years ago. There has never been stability in the region. "The Israeli government has refused to continue the Oslo agreement and to implement it in the region."
The expert said that the confrontation was unexpected for both parties.
"I should note that neither the Israeli police, nor the Israeli security service, nor the Palestinians, nor any experts in the world expected this operation. That's why Israelis are shocked by what happened on Saturday and Sunday. Therefore, their reaction will be more and more harsh. I already think that this is already a war. We have never even used the word war in Jerusalem and the general area since 1973."
Finally, the expert stressed that he doubts that Hezbollah and Iran are directly involved in the process.
"I don't think there is cooperation between Hezbollah and Hamas. It goes without saying that Hezbollah is a stronger organization than Hamas, and its serious war with Israel poses a great threat to the region. In particular, everyone says that Iran is involved in the conflict. But I doubt that Iran is really directly involved. Because it is necessary to know that Hamas is an independent movement. Maybe they got some help from Iran. But at the end of the day, the decision was made in Gaza. It goes without saying that Israel can point to Iran as the cause of the unrest, and the possibility of a major conflict in the region may arise."
