If the terrorists lay down their weapons and release the hostages, the war with Hamas will end.
This was stated by Gilad Erdan, Israel's permanent representative to the UN.
He criticized the draft resolution of the UN Security Council proposed by Russia. "Israel's mission is to save our hostages, our future, and the people of Gaza from these cruel tyrants.
This rescue mission can be completed very quickly. If Hamas lays down its weapons, releases the hostages, and surrenders, this war can end without a shot being fired. Why does Hamas want to do this? Why wasn't that part of the resolution?" Erdan said at the meeting of the UN Security Council on the resolution on the situation in the Gaza Strip and Israel
Could Gilad Erdan's statement to end the war with Israel end the war? How has the international community been involved in addressing this conflict? What is Russia's role here?
The editor of the Economic World Center operating in Israel and political expert Rachel Avraham clarified the questions of Ednews and said that such a statement by Gilad during the war raises serious doubts:
“It's a serious doubt that Gilad Erdan's statement within the war Because Hamas is like ISIS, they are committed to the destruction of the State of Israel, and because they are committed to the destruction of the State of Israel, no one statement would cause them to put down their weapons. They believe in martyrdom. They want to fight till the death to destroy Israel.”
According to an Israeli expert, in recent days, the Hamas Political Bureau had a member who made a statement saying that we are just willing to help make sure Israelis leave Israel and nothing else:
“If Israelis are not willing to leave Israel, we can expect more massacres and more violence. I don't think that Gilad Erdan's statement will cause Hamas to stop the violence at all. I know that there was a UN Security Council resolution orchestrated by Russia, but it was rejected because it did not mention the largest terror attack in Israel's history. And now they're trying to work with the US and the UN Security Council to get a better resolution. I know the US is also working on evacuating Americans from Israel because of the violence, as well as Gaza, because the violence here has gotten so bad.”
R. Avraham also noted at the end that the U.N. Security Council was rejected:
“Until there is a new resolution, I don't think it can have any implications at all. I think it's natural that countries like France, the United States, and the United Kingdom would not want to support a Russian resolution. They're still angry about what Russia did in the Ukraine, as is a resolution that ignores the massacre of innocent men, women, and children, and Hamas statements that they don't even care about old ladies. You know, they beheaded babies and raped women. These people are really violent. So, if the resolution addresses these, then it's a nonstarter.”
