President of the International Eurasia Press Fund Umud Mirzayev, as a representative of civil society, commented on the absurd resolution adopted by the European Parliament condemning the destruction of cultural heritage in Karabakh.
Speaking to Ednews, Umud Mirzayev said that those who drafted the resolution, except for the last two, seem to be unaware of the region.
"Apart from what it says, it also reflects the attitude of the European Parliament to the region as a whole. Looking at the content of the resolution, the attitude to our country, to put it mildly, is very disappointing. The European Parliament is one of the international bodies that can influence the fate of the world. Its attitudes and decisions are always in the spotlight of the world community. But now, by adopting such a resolution, they have exposed their inner selves. "
The politician also stressed that the European Parliament has once again expressed its pro-Armenian position. According to him, this resolution, which serves the interests of Armenians, will only have a negative impact on the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
"Because Azerbaijan has strategic relations with nine EU member states. At the same time, Azerbaijan is about to complete work on a document to be signed with the European Union. In this situation, the European Parliament adopts a resolution at the request of the Armenians, as well as serving their interests. This resolution does not fit the name of the Parliament or its status."
Umud Mirzayev also noted that this action of the European Parliament, which turned a blind eye to the 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani territories, shows a very interesting idea about their identity.
"During the 30-year occupation of Karabakh, indifference was shown to the cultural heritage sites of Azerbaijan destroyed by Armenians. They deliberately stayed silent to the facts through which the animals kept in mosques, the destroyed historical heritage of Azerbaijan. However, they did not condemn the Armenians for this, and did not take any measures against them. "Unfortunately, while the renaming and Armenianization of Caucasian-Albanian cultural places have been the subject of discussion, the European Parliament's goal has again been to lie."
In conclusion, the IEPF President stressed that Azerbaijan has restored its justice in the Second Karabakh War and has inherited its heritage from time to time.
It should be noted that the next hearings against Azerbaijan were held in the European Parliament on March 10. At the end of the discussions, a biased resolution was adopted against Azerbaijan. The resolution, which does not reflect any facts, states that the Azerbaijani government allegedly destroyed monuments belonging to the Armenian cultural heritage in the liberated territories.
