On June 21, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) rejected Armenia's demand to apply interim measures against the government of Azerbaijan against two servicemen of this country suspected of terrorism, illegal crossing of the state border, and other crimes, said Chingiz Asgarov, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court, Ednews reports.
In particular, Armenia's demand was sent to the European Court on the application of an interim measure on the grounds that in Azerbaijan, in relation to 2 Armenian soldiers, an attitude contrary to Article 2 (right to life) and Article 3 (prohibition of torture) of the European Convention on Human Rights is allegedly manifested.
The Government of Azerbaijan presented to the ECHR relevant arguments and evidence that the conventional rights of the Armenian servicemen are duly guaranteed in Azerbaijan and there is no danger to their life or health.
The ECHR, based on the position of the Azerbaijani government, rejected Armenia's application for an interim measure against Azerbaijan - in accordance with Rule 39 of the Rules of the European Court.
