The representation of Azerbaijan's replies at the UN Committee against Torture is currently ongoing, Ednews reports.
For the 2087th Meeting and 79th Session of the committee, Deputy MFA Samir Sharifov is appointed as the head of the Azerbaijani delegation.
The Committee against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CAT) is a body of 10 independent experts that monitors the implementation of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment by States Parties. The Committee Against Torture systematically investigates reports of torture to hold states accountable for human rights violations and to stop and prevent them.
