The opening ceremony of the stands dedicated to the United Nations Sustainable Development has been held today in Baku Boulevard, Eurasia Diary reports.
The project was implemented by the IDEA Public Union, the United Nations Office in Azerbaijan and the National Coordination Council for Sustainable Development of Azerbaijan with the financial support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Bilateral stands include information on United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to explaining each purpose in the posters, recommendations for what each individual can do to contribute to the implementation of the DHS.
It should be noted that in September 2015, the UN member states, including Azerbaijan, adopted the Agenda for sustainable development until 2030.
The main component of the agenda is the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (MDGs) and their 169 responsibilities, which should be completed by 2030.
The executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), chairman of the National Coordination Council for Sustainable Development, Ali Ahmadov, made opening remarks at the event.

In his opening remarks, he said that today most of the world's people face hunger, poverty, medical and security problems. He has pointed out SDG's tools to address these human problems.
"We want every citizen of Azerbaijan to understand the tasks of sustainable development, and thus support the efforts made by the state in this area and fulfill its obligations, " Ahmedov said.

UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Ghulam Isaczai, noted that informing the general public about the sustainable development goals is of great importance for their successful implementation. According to him, citizens' interest in these processes should be increased through awareness campaigns.
Ghulam Isaczai called symbolic installation of the stands at Baku Boulevard because it will allow him to be informed about DIM to improve the lives of many visiting people.

The exhibition is located near the clock tower in Baku Boulevard and is open to all guests by the beginning of November.
