Today, a conference dedicated to strengthening the international cooperation of NGOs, organized jointly with the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations and ADA University, was held at ADA University.
Ednews informs that officials of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ADA University, the Center for the Analysis of International Relations, NGO leaders and members of the media participated in the conference.
The conference was attended by Umud Mirzayev, the President of the International Eurasia Press Fund, Togrul Mammadli, an expert of the State Support Council for NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Aygun Aliyeva, the Executive Director of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sahib Mammadov, the chairman of the Executive Committee of the Citizens' Labour Rights Protection League, lawyers and a number of NGO representatives.
First, at the conference a minute of silence was held in memory of those who died as a result of the terrible earthquake that occurred in Turkiye.
Prospects of establishing cooperation with international organizations and NGOs, as well as with NGOs of foreign countries (including strengthening of existing cooperation) in various fields of specialization of NGOs (human rights, education, culture, environment, health, etc.); Ensuring the representation and activity of Azerbaijani NGOs on international NGO platforms, protecting the national interests of the Azerbaijani state by using the UN human rights charter and treaty mechanisms, as well as the mechanisms of other international platforms, about the rich multi-confessional cultural heritage and environment of Azerbaijan. OSCE, UN Human Rights mechanisms, including special rapporteurs, Universal Conducting continuous work at the Periodic Review and other international levels and other important issues were discussed.
The Executive Director of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations, A. Aliyeva, who started the conference with the opening speech, said that the Agency carries out various activities in the direction of strengthening the international cooperation of NGOs, and within the framework of traditional grant competitions, as well as within the framework of the travel grant competition, the projects of NGOs in the international direction are supported, their participation in various events of international organizations is ensured.
Vusal Guliyev, head of the business sector with non-governmental organizations of the Presidential Administration, made a speech and emphasized that the event is important in terms of evaluating the activities of Azerbaijani NGOs in the field of international cooperation and determining their future goals. He said that most NGOs with international access in our country have always made serious efforts to protect our national interests, convey the truths of Azerbaijan to the world community, protect the rights of our refugees and internally displaced persons and other directions, and have focused the attention of the world community on Azerbaijan. The current realities created after the 44-day Patriotic War impose new tasks on our NGOs. In this regard, Azerbaijani NGOs should further improve their activities in the field of international cooperation, closely participate in the work of international platforms, exchange positive experiences in various fields, etc. they should come up with initiatives.
V. Guliyev positively assessed the quality increase in the representation of Azerbaijani NGOs in the Economic and Social Council of the UN (ECOSOC), as well as in separate specialized international networks, and expressed the importance of preserving their continuity.
Other speakers who spoke later were Yalchin Rafiyev, head of department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Gulshan Pashayeva, member of the Board of Directors of the Center for the Analysis of International Relations, members of the Supervisory Board of the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Israil Iskenderov, Gunel Safarova, President of the International Eurasia Press Fund Umud Mirzayev. Prospects of establishing cooperation with international organizations and NGOs, as well as with NGOs of foreign countries in various fields of specialization of NGOs (human rights, education, culture, environment, health, etc.) They said that today's conference will be important, touching on ensuring the representation and activity of Azerbaijani NGOs and other topics.
After the speeches, the conference continued on the basis of the discussion of NGOs and suggestions were made.
