An event on the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Association of Azerbaijan Football Federations (AFFA) and the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) was held today at the Baku Olympic Stadium.
Ednews informs that in order to expand and develop activities in the mentioned direction, the Demining Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) is joining its efforts with the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA).
The memorandum contains important issues such as ensuring the cooperation of the parties in the implementation of the set priority goals, implementing joint measures to increase mass awareness in the field of mine danger, and supporting their participation in various football competitions and other mass sports events for the social integration of mine victims. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Sarkhan Hajiyev, Secretary General of AFFA, and Vugar Suleymanov, Chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan's Mine Action Agency.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, AFFA General Secretary Sarkhan Hajiyev noted that "the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between AFFA and ANAMA is a matter of special importance. Unfortunately, Azerbaijan is one of the countries in the world that is seriously affected by the threat of landmines. For this reason, as a result of a mine explosion, we are faced with cases of our citizens being killed or seriously injured. I think that the partnership we established between AFFA and ANAMA is one of our responsibilities to organize football games and tournaments for people injured in mine explosions, to enjoy their favorite sport."
After the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, a football match was held between amputees who were injured as a result of mine explosions on the field located on the territory of the Baku Olympic Stadium.
