On June 1, 1950, at the International Women's Conference, organized by the United Nations General Assembly were made proposals to ensure the rights of children and at the same event, it was decided to devote June 1 to the International protection of children.
Azerbaijan gained independence following the collapse of the Soviet Union 25 years ago, ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Children on July 21, 1992. A year later, in 1993, Azerbaijan joined the World Declaration, "On the life, protection and development of children" adopted on September 30, 1990.
Joining the mentioned convention encourages the holding of a series of events in the direction of ensuring children's rights and revealing their talent in our country.
Ednews informs that one of the series of events held today is dedicated to June 1 Children's Protection Day. With the support and organization of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, sports competitions were held among 7-year-old children dedicated to June 1 - International Children's Protection Day. The competition is planned for all districts of Baku city (Nasimi, Narimanov, Sabunchu, Garadag, etc.). All the participants of the competition were awarded with various prizes and gifts.
The winners of the first, second and third place were awarded with cups, diplomas and medals.
Maftun Guluzadeh, head of the Nasimi district Youth and Sports Department of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said in a statement to Enews that the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan periodically participates in the implementation of similar events and always shows its support:
"Today, the Nasimi district administration is actively supporting this event dedicated to the International Day of Children's Protection. Children are our future. The success of each of them is our success. I wish that these children will raise the name of Azerbaijan to higher heights in the future. As the Nasimi district administration, we always support the successes of our young and talented children, and we are happy for each of their successes."
With the support and organization of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the winners of the sports competitions dedicated to June 1 - International Children's Protection Day and held among 7-year-old children were announced:
"The first place winners were Nizami team from Nizami district, the second place winners were Zafar team from school No. 14 Nasimi district, and the third place winners were pupils of Narimanov district school. The winners of all three teams were awarded with medals and diplomas."
