As part of the Global Media Forum, taking place in the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, Shusha, the third panel session "Security Issues" has started, Ednews informs.
During the session, the participants discussed the improvement of communication mechanisms in crisis situations, the threats and challenges faced by journalists in conflict zones.
In his remarks at the panel session, Vice President of the Korean Political Science Association, Professor Gi Woong Jung noted that journalists are becoming the target of growing violence.
"The safety of journalists cannot be decided individually. The protection of journalists is not a country-specific issue, but a general one. There is a certain prejudice against journalists. Anti-media rhetoric should be prevented by law," he said.
Director General of the Romanian National News Agency AGERPRES Claudia-Victoria Nicolae noted that in the past there were unpleasant incidents against female journalists.
"Experimental journalists are somewhat like doctors. If a journalist is emotional in doing his job, his work will not be objective," she said.
The Forum, organized by the Media Development Agency of Azerbaijan, is attended by representatives of local and foreign media, as well as experts.
About 150 foreign guests from 49 countries, including representatives of state news agencies of 34 countries, 12 international organizations and media structures, take part in the Shusha Global Media Forum. Besides, 60 heads and employees of local media outlets are among the participants.
