The State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan appealed to the Armenian-origin residents of Garabagh region, Ednews reports.
The appeal reads: "As it’s known, on September 19-20 of this year, local anti-terror measures were implemented in order to put an end to terror-provocative acts and to disarm the illegal Armenian armed forces located in the territories of Azerbaijan that’s under the temporary control of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
The relevant persons were disarmed and detained on September 20, 2023, during those anti-terrorist measures suspected of committing the acts of terrorism and sabotage that have continued in the past, including, participating in illegally organized armed groups and committing the terrorist acts that resulted in the death of two civilians and four policemen by placing mines on the newly constructed tunnel road on the 58th kilometer of the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha road and in the Tagiverdi village of Khojavand settlement on September 19, 2023.
After reaching an agreement regarding the complete disarmament and withdrawal of illegal Armenian armed formations from combat positions, in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, consistent measures were taken to ensure peace, personal security, and social problems of local residents in the territories of residence of the Armenian population, ammunition located at the disposal of illegal Armenian military formations, were taken under the control of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan."
Addressing the Armenian residents of the Garabagh region, the State Security Service urges them to refrain from illegal acts such as the destruction of properties, documents which threaten the general development of the regions included in the Garabagh economic region of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the well-being of the Armenian population, their peaceful reintegration into the Azerbaijani society, the resolution of social and humanitarian issues, the protection of the rule of law, stability and public security, and to hand over their weapons as soon as possible.
"Full protection of the rights and freedoms of individuals of Armenian nationality who have surrendered their weapons and comply with the requirements of the relevant legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan is ensured," the service added.
