Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Office said on Friday reports claiming Israel intends to withdraw its forces from the Philadelphi Corridor, which runs along the border between Gaza and Egypt, are "absolute fake news."
"The Reuters report, according to which, Israel has discussed the possibility of withdrawing from the Philadelphi Corridor [with the United States and Egypt], is absolute fake news," the office said on X, formerly known as Twitter. "The Prime Minister insists that Israel remain on the Philadelphi Corridor. He has instructed the negotiating teams accordingly, made this clear to US representatives this week, and updated the Security Cabinet to this effect last night."
Israel has maintained that any potential ceasefire deal must deny Hamas the opportunity to obtain new supplies and weapons from Egypt through the Philadelphi Axis.
