The EU, especially the Spanish and Belgian authorities, are increasing pressure on Israel in order to persuade it to resolve the conflict on the basis of the two-state principle.
Madrid has repeatedly voiced the idea of holding an international peace conference that would resolve the situation. Spain and Belgium have indicated their readiness to host this future meeting, although a possible date has not yet been announced.
