Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is set to visit the United States from July 9 to 11 to participate in the NATO summit in Washington. The summit, expected to be the last attended by US President Biden, promises discussions on crucial global issues.
Hasan Oktay, Chairman of KAFKASSAM and a prominent political scientist, shared insights with Ednews regarding the summit's agenda. Oktay highlighted that topics such as NATO's expansion plans and China's increasing influence in Europe will dominate the discussions.
"NATO's annual leaders' summit, particularly significant this year in Washington, will see President Erdogan in attendance. His recent meetings with Russian President Putin, including discussions in Kazakhstan under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization framework, underscore his pivotal role in mediating between NATO and Russia," Oktay stated.
"The summit's focus on Ukraine remains critical," he continued. "The question of achieving peace in Ukraine before November's elections looms large, with NATO's stance clear: oust Russian aggression, integrate Ukraine into the EU and NATO, contingent on peace with Russia."
The upcoming NATO summit assumes heightened significance against the backdrop of escalating tensions, with a pivotal Erdogan-Biden meeting expected to attract considerable attention. Central to the discussions will be NATO's strategic response to the Ukraine crisis and its evolving stance towards China.
As anticipation builds ahead of Erdogan's visit to the US, the summit is poised to set the stage for critical diplomatic maneuvers amid global geopolitical shifts.
