The Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan has issued a statement, Ednews reports.
Ednews presents the statement:
"Recently, the media outlets of some countries have been disseminating information about Azerbaijan that does not reflect the truth and is aimed at confusing the public opinion of the local and international audience, citing sources of questionable credibility. Under the influence of the disinformation, the Iran International television channel, as well as The Telegraph publication and Kan agency have conducted information manipulation that does not align with international journalism standards, spreading disinformation claiming that Israel has allegedly prohibited its military personnel from staying in Azerbaijan.
We declare that there is no foreign military contingent present in the territory of Azerbaijan, and we strongly condemn information manipulations based on false claims in this regard. At the same time, we would like to point out once again that, regardless of the country in which they operate, media outlets must adhere to universally accepted ethical principles of journalism when sharing information.
We consider it unacceptable that certain local media outlets have re-circulated materials that are examples of classic disinformation of this type after they spread through social media segments.
We urge the public to trust only information provided by official sources and call on journalists and public activists to always demonstrate principled stances in such cases and to remain vigilant in an environment where fake and false information-based campaigns are gaining momentum."
