United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres reaffirmed on Monday his concerns with regard to the clashes in Sudan, where the "situation continues to worsen". Ednews reports citing Reuters.
"The violence must stop. It risks a catastrophic conflagration within Sudan that could engulf the whole region and beyond," Guterres underscored during his address at a UN Security Council meeting. The UN chief condemned indiscriminate bombardment of civilian areas and once again urged all of the sides to "stop combat operations in densely populated areas," so as to allow for unhindered humanitarian aid operations to be carried out.
The deputy spokesperson for the Secretary General, Farhan Haq shared that hundreds of UN staff members were temporarily relocated from Khartoum and other locations in Sudan.
