European Union Foreign Affairs and Security Policy High Representative Josep Borrell revealed on Monday he had a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian during which he encouraged Tehran to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), EDnews informs via Financial Times.
"I stressed that Iran must continue this, end support to Russia's war against [Ukraine], and stop instrumentalizing EU nationals," Borrell tweeted. In a previous post, he condemned the execution of Swedish-Iranian national Habib Chaab and called for overruling the death sentence of German-Iranian Jamshid Sharmahd; both men were accused of terrorist acts against Iran.
Back in March, Iran allowed the IAEA to monitor the country's nuclear-related activities.
